My hobbies/interests include:
Photography: (hence this site) When traveling or hiking I’ve always been interested in nature-oriented photography. But, alas, I’m still basically an amateur, so don’t necessarily expect spectacular results while viewing my individual galleries. It’s a fun hobby and I have been working on improving my skills.
Birding: Recently I’ve become more interested in combining this activity with my photography so there is more emphasis and current activity on the Birds of New England (NE) gallery.
Software development: (hence this site) As a retired software system engineer, designing and coding this web site allows me to keep (somewhat) active with this interest. Not that any of my work on this site is particularly complex. But it keeps me up-to-date with some of the latest web standards and techniques.
A note on my photo galleries:
In general the photos appear in the galleries in a somewhat chronological order – with the most recent at the beginning (page 1).
Also, to identify an individual photo (e.g., if you want to email me a comment), hover over either the display image or the small gray box immediately to the left of the photo's date and a unique photo ID will be shown.
A note on viewing my site:
I’ve tried to stay compliant with the latest W3C web standards. Since this is not a commercial site I made no attempt to add any kludges or work-a-rounds that older browser versions (especially IE) required. This latest update includes features from CSS3/HTML5. Therefore you will need an up-to-date, modern browser.
Show acceptable browser list:
Mozilla Firefox 31+ (By default, automatically updates itself.)
Google Chrome 31+ (Normally updates happen automatically in the background.)
Apple Safari 9+
Microsoft IE 11 only - the latest and last version.
Microsoft Edge 12+ (p/o Windows 10+)
Also, javascript must be enabled (usually the default). None of this should be an issue for my target audience of family and friends.
